Happy Monday, and welcome back!
Today we finished all the pieces to our biography projects. Tomorrow we will put them all together for hallway display. Come check them out if you are in the neighborhood. We will start our new novels on Wednesday.
We also started fractions in math today. We learned the difference between a numerator and a denominator. We talked about parts and wholes. Tomorrow we will dive in even further. I graded more multiplication today. Yuck! We are just not getting these to stick in our heads. So many Ds and Fs due to problems left blank in a five minute time frame. We did multiplication quick games today in class, and will continue to do so this week. However, they have just got to do this at home. Please help them. I promise it will pay off in the long run. I will test again on Wednesday and then attach the sheet with both tests to the weekly report on Friday for you to see just how your child is doing. They need to know these basic facts through 12 like they know their names. Practice in the car please!!!
There is one other area I need your help in. May I encourage you to have a discussion with your child about listening and following directions. I have many very bright students doing the wrong assignments and/or just doing only the parts they want to do. If you or I say to do it this way, then to earn a good grade, they need to meet MY expectations instead of their own. Thanks.
Hooray!!! The states and capital's tests rocked! Great job everyone. We will be heading into our own region next. After that, we will go into Montana History. That's our favorite so we can't wait! I will post the new states and capitals by the end of the week. The test won't be for at least two weeks. Some are asking already if there is going to be a 50 state and capital test. There will be, but it will be different then the rest. More details to come, but playing the states and capital game I have posted will greatly help in the end, so start now!!! :0)
Dayna shared with us today her star of the week things. We learned so much about her, especially about her trip to the Bahamas. She had so many funny pictures of her laughing and being a kid as well. Great fun! Up next...Jaeden!
Have a wonderful evening!
