Happy Monday!
I have updated the upcoming events off to the right. Please match or mark your calendars. Permission slips for the field trips will be coming home in May.
Don't forget your child will be playing in the recorder concert on Wednesday at 1:30 in the gym. You can watch it online at the address I sent home on the weekly report last week if you are unable to attend.
We started fossils today in science. Kids should have come home with their fossil packet to re-read tonight. They will have a quiz tomorrow. They will need to put the life cycle of a fossil (how it is formed) in order. They will have the five pictures that are in the packet. Easy-cheesy if they study and understand it.
Our last states and capitals test will be Friday. It will be on all 50 states. I will give a pre-test tomorrow or Wednesday to see where they are in this. They can then take that home to study as well as all the other stuff I have given them. :0) We will also be starting Montana History this week. YeeHaw!
Our last NWEA test is tomorrow at 12:45. Kids may bring a protein snack to eat, however it will be right after lunch recess. I told them to make protein choices for lunch too! Please try to include those if packing. What a great day for a PB&J.
Some of you are requesting work for upcoming vacations. Please remember that I don't give makeup work. The only thing I try to do is have them read our reading novel so they don't get behind. I am a strong believer that vacations are for family memories, not busy school work. So, enjoy and don't worry about missed work. They will just pick up where they left off. No worries.
Now that testing is over, it is important to remind parents and students that school is not over. :0) We will continue to learn up to the last day. There will me a lot more hands on learning that makes it seem more "fun". But, learning will still be imperative to keep as the focus. Thanks for helping with this.
With the beautiful weather today I saw many in summer clothes. I talked to the class about our school dress code. Just as a reminder (see Bitterroot Handbook sent home on day one) that girl's tank tops need to be two fingers wide. No spaghetti straps. They may be layered to made two fingers. Boys may NOT wear the open armpit to waist muscle shirts. Boys and Girls must wear shorts that are PAST their fingertips when holding their arms by their sides. They may layer shorter over longer ones. Make up is never allowed at Bitterroot. I showed them all what these mean today. They should not be guessing if it is ok. Students that come to class with infractions will be sent to the office to get clothes from our supply closets. They may not call home and ask you to bring different ones. Thanks for checking your kids out before they leave the house. :0)
It is Twin Day on Friday. Kids can come up with a matching outfit to wear with their friend(s). No face or hair paint please. School rules always apply.
This Wednesday is Secretaries Day. Please have your child make a card for Mrs. Zimmerman. Her job is not easy, and there is no way I would even attempt to do it. She is ten in one, including the person that often deals with blood, poop, and puke. No thanks. But, she does an awesome job!!! Rumor has it she also loves chocolate and HUGS!!!!
We have PE tomorrow. Please remind students to wear tennis shoes, not flip-flops.
I think that about covers it. Have a wonderful evening. If you do something outside with your kids tonight write the word OUTSIDE in the planner for $50 tomorrow.
