Hey there blog followers! Happy Tuesday!
Today we had a blast in science with Mrs. Hankin's class. We began to build our water cycles. We are in the construction phase. We will be there tomorrow too. On Thursday or Friday we will be sparkling with glitter and cottonballs. Yesterday we read about water and all that it entails on Earth. Today we focussed on the water cycle. There are four parts to it in the 4th grade. Ask your child what they are. They glued them onto their pictures today and labeled them A, B, C, and D. If they can tell you at least one, write down what they say in their planner for $20 tomorrow. Need a refresher? Check out the water cycle song (which we will learn and perform in class:0)) off to the right under Ms. Erickson's favorite sites. Fun song!
Today in Social Studies we did a North East Geography challenge. All those map skills came to life. Students also had to work as a team in order to get their next question. I am proud to say that all five groups worked together and I loved all the encouraging words I heard from many groups to their teammates.
Hopefully your non-fundraiser fundraiser is coming along at home. Kids brought home their collection envelopes a few days ago. Kids are encouraged to try to get cash, check or online donations for Bitterroot school. This is a new fundraiser this year. Kids do not have to sell little items this time. The best part is that it is 100% profit for Bitterroot. If our entire class gets at least one donation each then we get an ice cream party!!!! Donations may be in any dollar amount, even $1. Students in my class will earn $50 fake dollars for each donation they obtain from different people. The child with the most donations (not total money) will earn $1000 fake dollars! They were told in class NOT to go door to door. We talked in length on who to ask for donations. NO strangers! These are due on Oct. 17th. Thanks so, so much for your support!! And a HUGE thank you to Bitterroot PTA for all you do!!
Writing notebooks came home tonight. Their assignment is stapled in there. We edited it together in class using the correct editing symbols. They are off to the left on the paper. So...tonight all they have to do now is write it again correctly down below. We started it together and talked about what indenting is. We will do it the same way tomorrow, and then they are on their own. We will grade them in class together as well, but please look over them and help them make corrections together. Thanks.
Have a great evening!
