Happy Sunday! Well, I finally got to the pictures. Enjoy them!
This coming week is Red Ribbon Week. Don't forget all of our happenings. I have posted them off to the side for you. Monday is our kick off with DEA Agent Dunlap to share the story of how Red Ribbon Week began and who Enrique "Kiki" Camarena is. Don't forget our Bitterroot Spirit Day of Lei Off Drugs...wear Hawaiian attire on Monday. Kids that do earn $100.
I hope that you all had a great break! Please don't forget to send back your conference slips on MONDAY. We will be meeting after school to make the master conference schedule. If you don't send it back in, we will just put you into an empty slot that is left. If it doesn't work, you will have to call the office to change it. Hope to see everyone there. They are not this week, but the next. Lost the slip, see the office in the morning. They may have extras. One per family will work.
Students in my reading class had homework over the break. We finished our novel, and now it is time to do a 5 items in a bag book report. Students need to make sure they have the book title, author name, and their name on the front of the bag along with an illustration of their favorite part. The illustration must be drawn so that when I look at it, I know the scene they are thinking about and done in 4th grade quality. Inside, they need to look around their house and find 5 items that remind them of the book. On Monday, they will share those items and need to be able to state evidence for the connection for each one. Bags that are not done on Monday will be accepted on Tuesday but will only receive a C as the highest grade. We talked long and hard about using our time on break wisely and not leaving it for the last minute. Below, I have posted the video I took off the three legged race from our story. Then we had cupcakes to celebrate the fake birthday party. Enjoy!
Hopefully everyone studied for their states and capitals test. I am, however, going to move the test to November 11th. That give them three more weeks to study. We just have too much going on with Red Ribbon stuff and a new science unit. I also want to bring in some guest speakers from that region (Virginia and Kentucky). So, keep practicing. There will also be some review states and capitals on the test from the NE region that we studied last time, so don't forget about those!!!
Have a great, great weekend!
