Happy Birthday Alex!

Happy Birthday to Alex!!! Thanks for the absolutely delicious cupcakes! So, so yummy!

We had another amazing star of the week again. Ramsey shared some fun pictures, stuffed animals, and favorite books. That is one great kid! Next week, it is LeeRoy's turn to share. He may start to bring in items on Monday.

We finally finished our water cycle projects. They are hanging in the hall for display. I took a picture for you here, but what is really cool is reading the little cards off to the side where they had to write, in their own words, what was happening to the water in each stage of the cycle. They got it! That tells me the glitter and glue were all worth it. We will take a deeper look into the cycle this week, and discover just how it is possible that we are still drinking the same water as the dinosaurs did way back when. Then, we will move onto weather tools, sea breezes, and wind. We should finish up our weather unit by the end of the first quarter.

Speaking of quarter ending, Midterms will go home tomorrow. If kids have missing assignments they still have time to turn them in. Grades can also improve before the report cards are printed. All kids have been placed in the appropriate placements as far as reading, language, spelling, and math go. All students will now learn on their level and with their particular learning styles. Hopefully, by now you have figured out that I try very hard to reach all learning styles each and every day. It is not just sit and do. I expect them to learn it, apply it, and then retain and add onto it. Sometimes that comes in the form of paper/pencil. Sometimes a game. Sometimes glitter. But, I do try to reach all of your children in many different and varied ways throughout each day. No matter what method however, we are very busy from beginning to end. :0)

Kids had fun bidding on some candy, toys, posters, and soda last Friday. I kept telling them that they only had to overbid the other person by $5 but they just wanted to go to the thousand mark and buy the item up for bid. A lot of money was spent, but rest assured that they all had to buy into both the NILE and the Jail field trip before they could even get in on the bidding. Students were told that if their parents for some reason do not allow them to go on a field trip their money would be refunded after I get the written permission slips. I just didn't want them to spend money they didn't have. At any rate, they had a blast! More bidding on Monday for the leftover items if they choose to, and if we have extra time.

Lastly, have a wonderful Sunday!
