Hi there. I hope you all had a great weekend. I know I did. Mrs. Hankin's and I had a blast in Bozeman. Her BOBCATS won their game. Now, I am NOT a bobcat fan, but it was nice to see her so happy after they won. Soon, her cats will face my grizzly bears and we shall see what comes of that. Losing team has to make homemade cookies for the other's class. Let's go GRIZ! :0)

Above you will see some of the fun activities we did at the jail. It was a great field trip. The kids took it very seriously, and I was proud of their behavior choices. Thanks again to Alex's mom and Cora's grandma for helping out!

Red Ribbon week ended with a school wide assembly. It was a high energy assembly and meant to pump up the kids for being drug free!!! MCC came and did some funny skits, as well as us teachers. If your child can tell you what brain cell I was and what happened to me when I took drugs then write the words DRUG FREE in their planner for $10 tomorrow. We also had a very special guest appearance over the internet using Skype. If your child can tell you who it was, write the guest's name in the planner for another $10. We will be finishing our drug free collages this week and they will be on display during conferences. I am running out of hall space I tell ya!!! So many fun projects up there!

Tomorrow is Halloween! At school, that means we study the day, but we do NOT dress the part. If students have Halloween clothes those are great to wear, but NO COSTUMES! Save those for tomorrow night! We will be doing some fun Halloween activities all day, but they will also have academic meaning to them as well. I will bring in treats for my birthday, so no treats are required either. I am sure they will get enough treats tomorrow night as it is. :0)

Starting on Tuesday, my reading class will begin a program called Daily 5. One of their five learning stations is to silent read. They may use their library book or any other book of their choice. It must be on their level, and it can be any type of text as long as it is school appropriate. They will read for 15 minutes each day and then need to reflect on certain skills in their notebook. So, please help get those books into their backpacks before Tuesday. It will be part of their daily reading grade.

Conferences begin officially on Wednesday. Your child will be dismissed at noon on Wed, Thurs, and Friday of this week. They will have spelling and writing homework each night. Please encourage them to get these done first and then enjoy their time off in the afternoon and at night. I can't wait to meed with all of you. Please bring any questions you might have as we will cover those first. Thanks.

4th grade will be going on another field trip on Wed, Nov. 16th. I am not going to share where yet, but it will be all day long and super fun! It will have to do with the new science unit we will start not this week, but next. Since it is all day, it will be a $1500 buy in instead of a $1000 one. Students have plenty of time to earn that money, and MANY of them already have it.

It is now quarter two. Report Cards will come home with your child tomorrow. I gave everyone a chance to get in their missing work. Many did not, and grades suffered. Hopefully, everyone stays on top of this better next quarter. This is why I send home weekly reports, so kids know if they are missing anything. Seeing, how we have been in school now for 9 weeks, it is time to adjust the strike board. Before, it was a $20 fine for each stike. Now, it will be $50 for each strike. Students know all of my expectations and procedures now. I am raising the bar and will be holding them more accountable for their actions. I know they are ready, because the strike board barely has any strikes anymore. The number on reason for a strike for this class, seems to be unfinished homework. Work is not optional in my classroom, and there is always consequences for our choices. Let's go team!

I hope that everyone has a great Sunday. I will see your kiddos tomorrow!
