Drugs Stink! Wear Pink!

Day four....done. My eyes were almost blinded with all the pink today! This class has AWESOME school spirit! Today's Red Ribbon Focus was helping your friends say no. We heard from a great group of Skyview High kids today. They are in a group called SADD. It stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions. They talked about how they have stayed on the Drug Free Path. They gave great ideas such as sports, clubs, youth groups, and jobs in the summer to keep from getting bored. Being bored is when kids get into trouble. They also played a game with M&M's. Kids had to move their candies from one pile to the next depending on their decisions. That explains the pictures above.

Today, we also started our drug free collages. Kids made an image that reminded them of Red Ribbon Week and filled it with pictures and words found in magazines. We didn't get to finish them, but they will be on display in the hall during conferences next week. Check them out. I also took some pictures of the process in action above.

Today, we came into a surprise. Another class BOOed us. We had little tiny furry friends all over our room and a bucket of Halloween candy! We BELIEVE we know who it was, and we will BOO them back very soon. GROSSSSSSSS!!!!! They were everywhere! See Above for proof!

Tomorrow is our field trip to the Yellowstone Detention Center. We will leave the school around 8:30 and return around noon. If you would like to meet us there, that would be great. You won't miss us, we are in a big yellow bus! :0)

Tomorrow is also our last spirit day. Kids can wear their favorite team's apparel and help us Team Up Against Drugs! If the kids can tell you what team I will be wearing tomorrow write it in their planner and if right, they will receive $20. We also have our school wide assembly tomorrow afternoon. Busy, busy!

During library tomorrow, kids will preview the book fair. I forgot about this, so I have decided that the last book order I sent home will be null and void. This month, I encourage you to buy from the school bookfair instead. A new form will come home in late November. A book fair flyer is coming home today or tomorrow. There are some great books. What better way to reward your child for doing so well at conferences than with a great book. Yes!!

Mrs. Betts (Read 180) now has a website of her own. The link is off to the side. Please check it out often. Thanks.

The video below is a drinking simulation. The kids have been asking what it feels like to be drunk. So, this is the best way I could help them understand it. Ask them about the one we did for smoking and their black tar lungs. If they can tell you write what they had to blow into in their planner and they will earn $10 tomorrow.

Have a great night!
