Candy Comas!!!!

Hello. Well the troops were in full tact in the morning and then the candy high wore off. They were zombies this afternoon, and some of them completely spaced out their guest speaker manners and my expectations in the classroom. I am hoping not much candy is consumed tonight and we are back to normal tomorrow.

We started our Daily 5 rotations in reading class today. Kids traveled through 5 different learning rotations. They did great for day one. We will continue to practice this week, and then reading novel groups will be added. That is where they will read on their own, and then discuss their findings in a group. Eventually, I will add back in the read aloud portion of reading class as well. Pretty soon, it will be working like a well oiled machine. :0)

Tomorrow is a half day, as well as Thursday and Friday. As we speak the snowflakes are falling, so please make sure your kids are dressed warmly and that they know how they are to get home at noon.

To end our day, MCC was in the house again. We had two members from Kentucky and one from South Carolina. These are states we have been studying. They talked to us all about their region, and how it differed from ours here in Montana. Ask your child to tell you one major difference or one thing they learned and if they can write SE in their planner for $20 tomorrow. On Friday morning, we will skype in with my sister's fifth grade class in North Carolina to learn even more about this region. These students will also be our pen pals so we will get to see our matches at this time as well. Pretty cool. Gotta love technology! Kids need to write the MCC members a half page thank you letter tonight as their nightly writing.

The book fair is open for business in the library all throughout conferences. Your child has previewed it and so have I. Great books, that are fitting right into what we are doing or have done in class. Since I normally pay $100 for each book in the book orders, I will also grant this reward for the book fair. Just write in your child's planner how many books were bought, and I will pay them for them. You could also get some great Christmas shopping done there as well. I have posted a wish list for our classroom, and I suggest those books also for kiddos. So, if you need some ideas, look there too. Have fun!

Have a great evening.
