What a Difference!

Hi there. TGIF and Happy Weekend! What a difference today. Even though we still had quite a few strikes, the kids did MUCH better today when transitioning and turning in homework.

That said, their grade reports went home today. There were quite a few C, D, and Fs due to missing assignments. This is their final reminder. I will not hunt them down after this. They need to turn them in ASAP, and were reminded to get them in their bags to do this weekend. I would like the reports signed this week, due to all the low grades. Students that did not have any missing work were rewarded financially and with their good grades!!!! Yay to all of them!! Please make sure that your child gets it into their backpacks for Monday. I will send them home again for your records after I see your signature.

Today was a very special day. It was Veteran's Day. We read the most fantastic book called America's White Table. It taught us about how the military branches set up a table with certain things in certain ways to honor their lost (MIA) or captive (POW) soldiers. Ask your child what all the objects represent in the picture above. If they can tell you, write down at least one and what it means in their planner for a $50 reward on Monday. The US Marines you see above are Sgt. Miller (white belt) and Captain Nickelson. Mrs. Umemoto's class invited them to share with Bitterroot, so we were very honored and thankful that she included us. We learned a lot! I know I will be setting a White Table at our Thanksgiving/Christmas Dinner table this year to help my family remember all the reasons I love my free life! A huge thank you to these Marines for all they do and for sharing with your children.

Next Wednesday is our fun field trip to Zoo Montana and Norm's Island. We will go rain or shine. The bus leaves promptly at 9 so please have your child here on time. Makiah and Aaron still need their permission slips and Ramiro, Makiah, Cora, Megan, Aaron, and Sadie still need to bring in their $2.50. Five students also need to buy into the field trip with their fake money before Tuesday or they will not be able to join us and will have an alternate placement at school.

We got a real taste of our SE state North Carolina today. When we skyped with them, they shared the bread Hush Puppies with us. So, today I fried up a batch for us to try. There were mixed opinions but many of them wanted seconds. :0) Yummy bread with Honey!

Ramiro was a fantastic star of the week from last week. He shared favorite books, stuffed animals, and his rock collection. Very cool stuff! Cora was our star of the week this week, but she was not here to share. She will have another chance this year. Avery is next up for this week. I bet there will be something PINK on the shelf.

Well, have a great weekend. As always, you may want to check back on Sunday for any additions to this post. Enjoy!
