Happy Holidays. Here is the slideshow. I loved making it and seeing all the kids in action with their families at home. There are so many memories made this time of year. I was talking to Rusty from schooltoolstv.com the other day on the phone, and he was telling me that this year he was only buying Christmas gifts that would create experiences and memories together. For example, he bought tickets for a basketball game for he and his nephew to go to together. I think toys and gadgets have gotten a little out of control at our house, and many of them just sit in a toybox. I like Rusty's idea. One of the things I am going to do for my kids is make a memory collage out of pictures of just me and them doing fun things all throughout their lives. I can just imagine sitting on their bed now and for years to come laughing about old times. It is special to each of them because I only used pictures that had the two of us together. Do you have any memory/experience gift ideas? If so, write them in the planner and I will share them on the blog for others.
Polar Express sheets came home on Friday. Please sign and return the top two sheets. If your child earned their way into the day, you also received the supply list for the candy train. Please have supplies ready to go on Wednesday morning. We will make the trains and watch the movie in the afternoon. Kids that earned in, may also wear their pajamas, slippers, and robes in class. They may also bring their favorite stuffed animal to cuddle with during the story. We will also be taking a look into hot chocolate, so kids are welcome to bring in their favorite mug as well (regular size). Students that did not earn their way into the day will be placed in another classroom for the afternoon. They will stay in class for the morning academic activities however.
On Tuesday, we will have a technology buy in day. Kids may pay $500 to listen to ipods or other music devices all day. They will also have a 30 minute block that they may play school appropriate games on their portable devices as well. Phones are fine, as long as games and music is appropriate for school. That means NO curse words, offensive language, or killing of others.
On Thursday, we will have our spend all your money stocking stuffer auction. I will provide items to buy (small toys and candy). At the end of the day, any unspent money will be donated to the bank. All students will start the new year fresh with the $300 start up money of a different color.
We will have school Monday thru Thursday this week. Friday is the start of the winter break.
Don't forget tomorrow is the music holiday program. Mr. Goodheart has quite the show for you! The kids are awesome!!! It is a K-5 musical program, with kids switching in and out. Please refrain from leaving halfway thru as it distracts kids and the audience. The entire show is adorable, so please stay the entire time. Remember, there is one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Students are encouraged to dress the part. Christmas dresses and suits or just their sunday bests would be awesome. I bribed them with $100. We shall see you there!
Have a great Sunday, and we shall see those kiddos in the morning.
PS-Santa says...There will be no spelling this week. :0)
