YAY!!!! We made our snowmen last week wishing for snow and we got it! Ok, now it can go away again. :0) We will be writing persuasive letters to Mother Nature this week. Then, we will come together with Mrs. Hankin's class and have a debate. Kids will have to try to persuade each other to join if they want snow or don't want snow. Should be fun. This will be our nightly writing this Wednesday. Yes, I did say nightly writing. We will be starting that back up tomorrow with the edit sheets again. Kids are ready and it is quarter three! Be watching for writing coming home M-Th all quarter long. They will NOT have time in class.
Math tests went very well. Only a few were below the passing C mark. I am so proud of these kids. I actually can't wait until testing so I can see how much they have grown. Next, we will be moving into fractions. We will also continue to review basic multiplication, long multiplication, and our long division facts along with all the other concepts we have learned in the 4th grade thus far. They are really starting to click!
Today was Martin Luther King, Jr. day. We will be discussing this tomorrow throughout the day. What movement did he help start? Write down the answer in the planner for $20 bonus tomorrow.
We will also start our new Metric Olympics tomorrow in science. We will be doing the cotton ball shot put, the straw javalin throw, the big foot area contest, and the paper plate discus throwing competitions tomorrow. The olympics will continue on Wednesday as well. Fun!
We have gym tomorrow. Wear boots, but bring those shoes. It is supposed to be cold, so hats and gloves are needed. Snowpants are also needed if they want to tumble around in the snow.
Have a wonderful night. Don't forget the Venture Theater performance is this Friday night!!! Practice for the rest of the week. They sound great!!
