Report Cards Home Today!

Hi there. We had a great day! Today in SS we talked about more places in the SW region. We first discussed the Mexican border and listed all the pros and cons about maquiladora jobs. Ask your child what those are. Then ask if they were on the legal or illegal side for our mini debate. Pretty fun. We then moved onto the Alamo. Ask them to retell you the story of "Remember the Alamo!" Finally, we ended in Oklahoma. We acted out the Oklahoma Land Rush. Ask your child what part they played and how it turned out for them. We got a little excited, but learned a ton. If your child can tell you the name of the people that snuck over before the pistol shot was fired write it down in the planner. Hint: It is the name of the basketball team in OK. Sneaky guys!!! $20 reward.

Since we ended the tour, it is now time to take our SW states and capitals test. There are only four, but that doesn't mean they don't need to study. Please help your child be ready for their test on Monday. We will take the chapter test tomorrow, but it will be open book.

Did your child remember their spelling book today? If so, please help them remember to open it and study their review words from the past units. I will pick 20 and a challenge word for the test.

Tomorrow is our Venture Theater Performances. The parent one is tomorrow evening. I can't wait to see them!

We added almost $60 to our pennies for patients total. So now, Team Erickson has raised $148.98. Wow!!!! I sure hope we took the lead. We will find out Monday! In the meantime, keep sending in those pennies you find. Obviously, every penny counts! A big thanks to LeeRoy today for bringing in his penny jar! Wowzers, that was a lot of pennies!

Report cards came home today. Please keep all that is inside, but return the outside envelope for $100 reward tomorrow. I will post award winners soon.

I will send home quarter three progress weekly reports tomorrow. Has anyone tried the online view yet? If so, write ONLINE in the planner. I am just curious.

Nightly writing part two came home tonight. Kids need to take their ideas for yes snow or no snow and write it into a persuasive paragraph. The ideas were clever and well thought out today. We will look even deeper tomorrow. Then, we will debate with Mrs. Hankin's class next week. Feel free to help your child tonight.

Well, have a great night. Hopefully we will get to go out and play in the snow tomorrow. C'mon sun!
