Hi there. I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! We ended our week by watching the Bitterroot Spelling Bee. It is for fifth and sixth graders only. So....next year it could be your child! Congratulations to Zayden in 5th grade for winning! He will now go onto the Yellowstone County Spelling Bee. It was pretty intense and very close!
MacKayla was our star of the week this week, and she had the class's attention with all her fun stuff! She did a great job sharing her favorite things!
Midterms came home Friday. Attached to it there was an information sheet about some upcoming activities we will be doing in class soon. One is in Social Studies. We will be joining Mrs. Hankin's class in the gym for a Hawaii Fun Day. We will eat Hawaiian food, play Hawaiian games, and sing some Hawaiian songs. We sure are having fun with these Western states! Alaska and Hawaii...too cool!! The second one is in our reading class. We are about to finish up our read aloud novel, Owls In the Family. We sure have enjoyed hearing about all the funny adventures Wol and Weeps have had. Jeff the Nature Guy will be coming out not this Friday, but the next one with a very special surprise guest...hmmm, what kind of animal would he be bringing??? Then we will dissect our owl pellets. This is always a hit! It is pretty cool to find the bones and figure out what kind of animal the owl had for lunch that day! We will also be making some Owl snacks and will again attempt origami! I wish that all my students could do this, but only the ones that are in my reading class have read the book. The activities would not make much sense for those that don't. In order to participate and plan please send in the needed amount of money listed on your child's midterm sheet. Thanks!
Testing season is upon us. We will start in about a week. I will post the exact schedule when I get it. PLEASE have your child at school during the testing sessions. It is so hard on kids to test in Mr. Senitte's office or with a teacher they don't know. Research shows that kids do better in their natural environment. It will also help if they have a high protein diet breakfast before each testing session in the mornings. We will always test from 10:00-12:00. They can also bring a protein snack such as a hard boiled egg, nuts, or peanut butter snacks. Again, please do everything in your power to have your kids here. Make up testign will be available, but makes things a lot harder on the kids.
I will be gone on Monday. Zach, Mrs. Hankin's, her husband and I are going up to Chico for Zach's birthday. It will be nice to get away for the day with our good friends. I will be back on Tuesday. Then I will be out a half day on Friday. Rusty, from our CC meeting show, is coming to town. Our book is about to be published so he is coming to promote it. He will be visiting with Bitterroot students on Friday morning and students elsewhere in the afternoon. I will blog Monday afternoon.
Well, have a wonderful rest of the weekend!
