Hi. It is Thursday already! Wow! Where has this week gone?

Tomorrow we have our final Trail of Tears vocabulary test. Those that did not score an A on the pretest are coming home with their practice test to study. Kids must earn at least a C to pass tomorrow. If they do not pass tomorrow, they can use next weeks recesses to study again at school and try again the following Friday. They will need to continue to take it until they earn a passing grade. We talked today about the fact that it would be much easier to study really hard tonight instead of ten times next week. We also read the story today and heard/discussed the words again in context. Study, study.

Great job on the Read A Thon already! Please make sure they read at least 24 minutes each night. That is not optional. Those that don't or forget their envelope at home are fined $100 per day. Those that do earn $50 per day. Also, they were reminded today by the PTA president that they MUST have parent initials every day in order to count their minutes that day. Kids that read an hour last night will have their free frosty coupon in their envelope today!!!!! Fun treat after dinner!!!! Sweet! Keep reading! Remember, this is only for ten days. Our school needs to read 50,000 minutes as a whole to duck tape Mr. Senitte to the gym wall during our ending assembly. Last year we read over 45,000 minutes, so lets read, read, read!

I will collect the valentines day party buy in money tomorrow morning. Students that are unable to buy in at this point will NOT be on a planning committee. However, they may still buy in up to the date of the party. I will send home the class name list with the weekly report tomorrow so you can start those Valentine's Day cards this weekend. :0)

Kids will NOT have nightly writing during Read A Thon. I would rather they focus on reading at home. We will pick it up again later.

In math today, I told the kids the story of how I had to turn away mixed fractions at the fraction party. The party was only for BIG heads. Have your child retell the story and show you how to help 7 and one-half to change into a BIG head (improper fraction) to get into the party. Write it in the planner for $20 reward tomorrow. Too Dang Funny!!!!

Don't forget tomorrow is the BUG Club and Terrific Kids Award Assembly at 2:20 in the gym. I emailed or texted you if your child will be receiving an award. BUG club is when a child maintains the same or betters their grades from quarter one to quarter two. They may not have any Ds or Fs. Terrific Kids are those that have straight As. They will earn them for both quarter one and two. Awesome!!!! Hope to see you there.

I would like to welcome Mrs. Dasjarlais to our class. She will be observing and teaching a few lessons in order to prepare her for her teaching degree from MSU-B. She will be with us on Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings. It is going to be great to have an extra pair of hands in the classroom. She will be her for a few weeks. Yay! Welcome!!!!

Have a wonderful evening!
