Above is a slideshow of just some odds and ends from last week. I also added a video and some photos of my kid's new pets on the farm. I am unsure of their names at this time, as they change every hour. :0) I will be bringing the ducks in for a visit later this week. Super, super cute!
In math today, we took a detour and dived into median, mode, and range. They practiced finding these with three different sets of data. Use the data set, 59, 52, 54, 52, 53 to have your child show you how to find each of these. Write the answers for median, mode, and range in their planner if THEY can help you solve them. This is one of my favorite lessons, because it is fun to work with numbers like this. :0)
We took our first spelling test today. Congratulations to Shyler who passed with a minus one on her first try. Everyone else did very well for their first attempt but missed more than one, leading them to a non passing grade. They will study tonight (hopefully), and pass the test tomorrow with minus zero or minus one. They all have their study sheet with the correct spellings on it. We also went over the entire test and I showed them tricks and we talked about the homophones on the test like there, their, and they're and its and it's. Please ask them to spell the words for you tonight. I might be a good idea to study all of them, not just the ones they missed. They must also use capital letters where needed for the word to be correct as well. I was VERY impressed in what I saw for the first time doing it.
During our computer time today, we took a look at iditarod.com. Kids did some question/answer things and then had time to just explore the site. Check it out if you want. I have put it on my favorite links off to the right. :0)
Later this week, we will be writing back to our pen pals. If kids want to send pictures with their letters please have them at school by Friday.
Mr. Goodheart is ready to have you mark your calendars for the 4th grade recorder concert. It will be on Wednesday, April 25th at 2:45 pm in the gym. Please plan to attend. They have really worked hard to put on a good show. The entire show will last about fifteen to twenty minutes. Students are encouraged strongly to dress the part. (Nice).
Lastly, primary has conferences this week and are dismissed at noon. WE DO NOT!!!!! Kids have school all day every day this week. Thanks.
