Ok. If your child has a headache tonight it is all Peepers fault. OMG! I brought the ducklings today and my son's would NOT stop peeping. We finally ended up just letting them walk around so they would stop peeping for attention. They will be going home tonight. :0) Ducklin on the other hand, was so quiet and calm. We had a great time watching them though, as you can see. Ask your child their favorite duck story of the day. If they can, then write the name of the duck they are talking about in the planner for $20 tomorrow.
We read chapter one in Balto today. So far, it is a great read! Kids are reading in groups of two this round instead of book clubs. All their discussion and work will be done with this assigned partner. They need to work together productively in order to finish their work in class. Work that is not done in the allotted time needs to go home from homework.
In math we quizzed on median, mode, and range. The kids seem to have a good grasp on these concepts now. We also practiced turning fractions into decimals and decimals into fractions. We will quiz out on these skills soon. Keep practicing. :0)
We started our rock unit in science. We read a play about the three types of rocks. We will work more and more on these concepts in the upcoming week.
We read more in our Ice Worm book. It is getting pretty intense. Those that still need to master their letter writing skills or details will practice once again tonight. Please help your child to look back at previous ones I have graded and make sure they are not making the same mistakes. They must have at least 10 details from the story to master the detail skill. Many are only doing five or six details every time. They are getting the same grade over and over again. They are to take notes while I am reading about things that interest them so they can later write about it in their letter to Allison. 4th grade quality is a MUST as well. Thanks for your help on this. I would like to see all students master this skill this time.
Congratulations to all the students that passed their Sitton Spelling Test #1. There were many! Great job. I sure could tell which ones studied and those that did not. Those that passed will take test #2 tomorrow. Those that did not, will try test #1 for the third time tomorrow. Well done!
Mrs. Hankin's and I are meeting tonight to set the last three field trip dates. We have some fun day trips planned!!! Details will come soon. They will all revolve around our studies in Social Studies and Science. This means that kids will need at least $3000 before the year ends to get into all three. We also do MANY fun buy in events the last week of school. It is so important that your child earn all the money they can before then. They can not afford to lose the money. They have been earning money since January and have only spent a little here and there for movies. They need to make good choices. 4th grade quality work will play into this A LOT! (We talked about one today in science class!)
Tomorrow kids need their recorders for music.
Have a wonderful spring night!
