This week we worked very hard on our Top Ten Things You Never Knew About Me projects. We are just about done. Your homework this weekend (Parents) was to write down the story of how your child got their name. Those cards will be added to the projects before they hang in the hall for open house. I will also be taking their picture on the 4th day of the 4th grade tomorrow. Those too will be added. Then they are done. On Friday, we shared our top tens with one another. Here were some of my favorites!!!

Dayna loves cotton candy and rainbows.
Korbyn has had staples in his head after cracking it open.

It was so fun listening to all of the top tens. Ask your child to tell you one more item off their top ten that I didn't mention above. If they can, then write the code word Top Ten in their agenda and they will earn an extra $50 at tomorrow's check in. I learned so much about all of them. It is so important to me and to our year together that we feel comfortable sharing our lives with one another. One that I shared with the kids was pretty difficult for me. I do want to share it with you as well, because it may come up over time. My sister died this last summer. She was only 34 and she left her 12 year old son behind. I don't really like to talk about the details. She was my best friend. I miss her more and more every day. There are times, many, that she just pops in my mind and I tear up. I told the kids that if this happens it is just me remembering her and that it will pass shortly. If it doesn't pass, then I will leave the room until it does. I apologize in advance if this brings up hard discussions at home. I really can't help when it happens, as it just comes on its own. I am hoping that time heals. Thanks for your understanding on this.
I have updated the spelling words off to the right. We will have a practice spelling test this Friday. It will not count, but it will be graded. I just want the kids to get familiar with the process. I have also updated the upcoming events. Please mark your calendars and plan ahead to attend the events that pertain to you. Yay!
On Saturday, you should have received a text and email message from me if you signed up for that. If you did not, then I do not have the correct information. Please respond back to the messages so I can mark the test complete and successful. Thanks.
Academics will slowly start this week, and homework will start tomorrow. I will explain it on tomorrow's post.
Lastly, have you joined the Bitterroot PTA yet? I sure have. Our PTA ROCKS!!!! Last year they were able to buy us a new computer lab. Wow!!! They do so much for our kids. Please take the time to attend a meeting. You don't have to add one more thing to your plate, but it is so nice to hear what is going on in your child's school. There is no obligation. You can just come and listen. If you joined the PTA ($8) at our ice cream social please write a note in your child's agenda and I will reward them with $500. If you haven't, may I encourage you to do so at the office? If you do, just let me know and I will reward your child as well. What a great investment! It all goes back to your child eventually!
I hope that you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
