Read 180 started today. If your child is in that program he/she will receive their reading, spelling, and language instruction with Mrs. Betts. They will not have me for those classes. System 44 will also be starting next week as well. Mrs. Culp is still testing students to see who qualifies. Please address any and all questions about these classes to those teachers. Theya re both AMAZING programs, and have done absolute wonders for kids in the past! Thanks.
Today we did the computer lab for the first time. We didn't have quite enough computers for everyone with our large numbers, but we doubled up on some. More computers are on the way, and by the time our regular programs begin, they will hopefully arrive and be added to the lab. I did however show them how to get to the blog and where the educational games that I have selected for them are. Please allow and encourage your child to play these multiplication games for at least 5 to ten minutes each day. I saw a few kids counting on their fingers during math today when adding. Addition and Subtraction facts through 12 should be memorized by now, and ALL students should know them like they know their name. We will now master our multiplication and division facts. These games are great practice. I will add new games each week to keep their interest. Thanks for supporting this. My daughter has an ipod and just the other day I downloaded three FREE addition/subtraction game apps to it. How many of you get asked if they can play games on your phone???? Get multiplication game apps for free. Have them spend 5 minutes on these BEFORE they go to Angry Birds! :0)
Homework tonight includes a spelling sheet (only if they have me for spelling) and possibly a math sheet if they did not finish it in class. Nightly writing will continue tomorrow. We are taking small steps in the area of homework. All but two had their math homework done for today. Wow!!! Great Job!
I sent home the letter for the book ordering online. You can use your credit/debit card there. You will need to just go to that site and put in the classroom code. It is very simple, and is step by step on the information sheet. Volunteer sheets also came home today as well. If that is your thing, then Welcome Aboard!
We have PE tomorrow. Please remind kids to wear or bring their gym shoes.
Saturday Live is coming up. We are asking that each kid in the school contribute two non-chocolate bags of candy. The items need to be individually wrapped as well. Please send in two bags of candy with your child when you can in the next week or so. All the money earned for Saturday Live goes right back to your kids. 4th grade uses it for field trip money. Yay!! I will pay $100 for each bag brought in. Thanks for supporting your school. Saturday Live will be held mid September at Pioneer Park. It is a HUGE carnival for kids. Bitterroot does the candy shack.
Well, I think that is about it. Have a wonderful evening!
