Our first skype tomorrow! Exciting!

Hi. Happy Thursday! We started our fall NWEA testing today. My reading class took the reading section today. This score shows us where they are right now. Over the year, we expect them to learn so much that they grow when we take it again in the Spring. Yay! We will test language and math next week. Read 180 and Mrs. Culp's kids will test tomorrow with those teachers.

Today, Rusty talked to us about manners and how they are what we use to get along with others. I had some manners picked out, and the kids got into groups and had to strike a pose to demonstrate them. Can you pick out which one above is which? We had: Respect other people's feelings, Raise your hand to speak, Take Turns, Have good table manners, Offer to help clean up, Let others go ahead, Help carry packages, Offer your seat to others, Greet people with a smile, and open and hold the door open for others. Ask your child which one they did. Write it in their planner for a $10 bonus.

Tomorrow morning we will be skyping in with a teacher in Florida. She just went through Hurricane Irene and is willing to share the experience with us. Skyping is a computer based program that allows us to communicate with people via the computer all around the world. She will be able to see and hear us, and we will be able to see and hear her. Very cool! Tonight your child (ALL of them) are to write down 10 questions they have to ask her. They need to do this in their nightly writing journal or just on a piece of paper.

Library is tomorrow. Please remind them to bring in their books.

Students all about me projects came home today along with their missing number story. Enjoy them together and then hang them proudly on your special fridge magnet your child made on the first day. They did a great job!

There is a PTA meeting tonight at 6. It is one hour long and there is child care. Come and just listen to all the great things that are going on in your child's school. You don't have to do anything but listen, and you don't have to be a member to attend. Parents that attend, please write a note in your child's planner tonight and I will reward them $100 tomorrow. Great things are coming up!

Have a great evening!
