Happy Weekend! On Friday, we had some brave souls share their student council speeches. They all did a super job, and the votes were very close. When the votes were counted however, we could only select three. The class voted Avery, Jaeden, and Sadie as our classroom representatives. Dayna was voted as the alternate. If for some reason, one of the reps can't continue their term Dayna will step in.
Makiah was our star of the week. She shared many pictures of when she was a baby. She also shared her favorite CDs and special necklaces. It was great to learn more about her! Thanks for sharing Makiah!
Students were given the opportunity to buy into Polar Express Day on Friday. Many were able to buy in with no problem. Thanks so much for filling out the forms. It was fun for me to see them, and I plan to have some CC meetings on the topics that came up over and over again. I was surprised at the lack of respect for siblings. We will definitely talk about that one. I, for one, know how absolutely important sisters and brothers are. They are life-long friends, and I will share that with them. :0)
We will be continuing all our units of study this week. I wanted to wrap things up before we went on break, but that seems like a lofty goal now. We just get into everything way too deep (not a bad thing). I am especially loving talking with the book clubs in reading. They are really starting to see the connections to thinking while reading. Ask them what one type of Figurative Language is. If they can tell you the name and what it is, write the name of it in their planner for $50 on Monday.
I hope that you are getting ready for Christmas. It is a fun time of year, and many memories are made when decorating the tree or baking holiday goods. May I encourage you to share those memories with me. I would like to put together a slideshow of the kids at home getting ready for Christmas. A picture by the tree? A picture making a snowman? A picture of anything Xmas related. You can email them to me or hard copy them. I will scan them into my computer and then return them to you. Please make sure to write down what they are doing and I will share that as well. Students that do this will earn $200. Thanks!
Have a wonderful weekend!
