I Knew They Could Do It!

Hi. It was a no strike day today! Kids rose to the new expectation. Everyone was on task and busy all day. Great job kiddos!

We started our complete Daily 5 in Reading today. Those 5 objectives include thinking while reading (kids sticky note their thoughts as they read), working with words (kids do spelling), listening to others read (kids listen to me online read to them), understanding words (kids do language skill or review language concepts), and practicing reading strategies (kids do skill work like fact and opinion, sequencing, predicting, main idea and so on.) Kids did awesome on these. Some needed more time, so they were allowed to come in for it during their lunch recess. They will get it all done eventually in class. Some just need more practice prioritizing their time. I BELIEVE in them!!!

In math today we introduced long division!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!! Just kidding. They will not pick it up for a little while. It takes a lot of practice to get it. We will just do a couple a day and eventually they will be dividing pros. I have taught them a specific way so please avoid practicing at home until I get that method in their brains to avoid confusion. Thanks.

PE tomorrow, so please remember those shoes.

Lastly, the amount of blog followers has seemed to dwindle. In the planner would you please write YES if you would like it to continue. If over half the class says yes then I will continue to post, otherwise, it is a lot of work and time for nothing. Thanks to those that read it religiously!!! I appreciate you and your partnership! $50 reward for those that respond. Thanks.

Have a great night!

PS. I have two bedding sets for twin beds. My kids got new ones this year for Christmas. One is Bob the Builder and the other is a pink princess (older girl) one. They have sheets, pillowcases, and comforter. Want them??? Just let me know and I will bring them in for your child to take home. Know someone that needs them??? Let me know. Free for the taking...just paying it forward! I will try to post pictures of them tomorrow.
